Our School

Begin with the end in mind.

Core Values/Beliefs:

The staff is a “family” who believes in a “Culture of Kindness”
All students can learn
Students should accept responsibility for their learning
Learning is preparation for the future
Learning skills are of major importance to the learner and set the climate for success

We believe that students have different strengths, talents, and needs not all of which will be honored in a traditional comprehensive high school setting. Hauke Academic Alternative High School is for students who have experienced life to the beat of a “different” drummer. It serves as a place to find structured guidance so a student doesn’t stray too far off the beaten path, or to help get one back on the path to earning a high school diploma. Of utmost importance to our staff is all students are respected for their skills and talents, and supported through difficulties, not just in academics but in their personal lives as well. A reciprocal respect for fellow students, staff, and the community at large is expected of all students in all their personal interactions both on and off campus.

“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away.”

-Henry David Thoreau
